Not much new…

I know it’s been a few days, but not much is new here. Just the usually baby-raising business as usual. Feeding and naps and diaper changes and such. The weather has been cold, so we haven’t been able to get out of the house and go for walks in awhile! I think we’re all getting cabin fever. Okay, maybe it’s just me – the babies seem as happy as ever!

One thing I did want to mention is Anna’s new ‘trick’. See, I’ve been giving the twins pacifiers – not to console them or for them to suck on – but for teething. They like to chew on them, and seeing as how there still hasn’t been any eruption of teeth, it’s still safe for them to do so.

Well, one type of pacifier in particular – the one given by the hospital, actually – is made of a single piece of rubber. See here:

Anna’s new ‘trick’ is sticking her thumb into the pacifier and getting it stuck! So, she walks around with a ‘green thumb’ that she likes to chew on!! It’s really cute and funny at the same time. Occasionally she’s been able to dislodge her thumb from the pacifier on her own, but most of the time she needs our help.

Happy Mother’s Day!! (a bit early)

Since Tom had off on Tuesday (May 4) we decided to celebrate Mother’s Day a little early – – with a trip to the Bronx Zoo!! (One of Mom’s fav places on the planet!)

We had a great time, the weather was perfect – not too hot, not too cold. The zoo wasn’t too crowded and we got to see lots of animals!! It was an awesome first trip to the zoo…

We even got to see the lion cub triplets that were recently born at the zoo! They were almost as cute as us – but not quite!!

Our busy weekend

Saturday we traveled downstate so that Mommy could help Uncle Joe paint his deck since the weather was nice. Once the deck was completed, we went to cousin Bennett’s baseball game and enjoyed some time outdoors – cheering from the sidelines, hanging out on a blanket with Aunt Addie.

Then on Sunday, the twins went on their first hiking trip! We went across the river to a tidal area in Catskill. It was really hot, though, and the jogging stroller was only able to go about a mile. After that the trail went into a forest area of the park, and the stroller wouldn’t fit. So, we decided we would go back another day when it wasn’t so hot, and we would use our  backpacks to carry the babies in, instead of the stroller!

So, the weekend was eventful, and it was nice to get out of the house! Wonder where Mom & Dad will take us next weekend??

Memory Lane…

I’ve been looking at ‘old’ photos these last couple of days and it’s so hard to believe that the twins were once so small! They were so tiny and skinny! I guess it’s harder for me to notice their growth because I see them everyday, but looking at these photos reinforces just how much they’ve grown. It’s so bittersweet!

Okay, I’m still getting the hang of this – and trying to find the time to post hasn’t been going well – but I’m not giving up!! Nap times are getting shorter and the babies are still finding a balance between independence and wanting Mommy’s attention!! So… I’m doing my best!

The twins are quickly growing out of their clothes! They are now wearing mostly 9 month – 12 month sizes, but some 6 month sizes still fit – as well as some 18 month pcs, too! I bought a lot of summer dresses for Anna at a recent consignment sale, and I can’t wait for warmer weather so I can dress her up! Unfortunately, there wasn’t as big as a selection for Robbie, but I was able to get a few things. Luckily, I’ve gotten a lot more clothing from Angela, so Robbie isn’t missing out!!

The twins are eating like you wouldn’t believe! Robbie especially loves solid food! Tom has been supplementing the baby food we buy with homemade. We bought a large food mill and have also been utilizing our food processer to make bananas, applesauce, pears, sweet potatoes, peas, etc. Tom is still trying to determine whether or not it’s saving us any money, cause produce can be pricey, too! In the morning the twins will eat cereal with a fruit mixed in and another fruit on the side. For dinner they get two vegetables and one fruit. It doesn’t sound like a lot, especially when it’s shared between two babies, but it sure seems like a lot!!

I’ve been considering taking the twins to preschool storytime at the library, but I haven’t attempted yet. I should probably call first to make sure that ‘preschool’ includes infants. They might not want babies there, and I can’t really say I blame them – cause they can be loud! (Especially Anna who enjoys screaming when she’s happy OR upset!)

Now that Spring has arrived (or is in the process of ‘arriving’) I want to do more with the twins. It’s hard, cause they still can’t do much, but I’m so looking forward to taking them places and experiencing new things with them! For now, I’ll settle for walks around the fairgrounds or through town. I just can’t help wanting to take them to the zoo, or to the city, or to museums!!!

Welcome to Robbie and Anna’s Blog!

The twins are six months old! Wow, that went by fast!!

Babies grow and develop so quickly, and I know that there are some who would like to experience every milestone along with us. So, I decided to create this blog so that I could post new pics and updates on Robbie and Anna’s progress.

I don’t always have the time to write a bunch or post a lot of pictures, but I’m going to try my best to post new stuff as often as I can!

The twins last doctor appointment was April 12. Robbie weighed in at 14 lbs 15 oz, 26 1/2″ long and Anna weighed in at 16 lbs 4 oz, 25 1/2″ long. They are both starting to express their individual personalities. Anna has found her voice, and enjoys yelling – loudly! Robbie has recently discovered his thumb, and likes to suck on it – along with anything else that he finds! They are both very happy babies and smile and laugh all day long!!
